FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • How do I read my tank gauge?

Your tank gauge is located on the top of the tank, usually under a lid or hood which can be lifted up to view the gauge. Look for a gauge dial with numbers from 5 to 95. The numbers indicate the percentage of propane in the tank. When the level reaches 30%, please schedule a delivery.

  • Is it more cost effective to use propane?

Propane is often cheaper than electric, and with better price stability you have more predictable energy bills.

  • How many gallons do I need for delivery?

Jim's Propane requires a 200-gallon minimum for delivery. If you have any questions, please call the office at 316-745-3378.

  • What should do before I dig near my propane tank?

In many cases, propane gas lines run underground between your propane storage tank and your house or business. That’s why it is important for you to know exactly where your gas lines are located and to avoid digging in that area. If you are a Jim's Propane customer and your home or business improvements include landscaping or exterior home improvement work, please contact us before you start digging. We will work with you to locate your propane gas lines and ensure that your renovations or grounds maintenance does not put your safety, or the safety of others, at risk.

Benefits of Using Propane

It's Eco-Friendly

Since propane is a low-carbon fuel, it burns cleaner and powers more efficiently than natural gas, fuel oil, diesel, and even electricity. When compared with electric, propane appliances can dramatically reduce energy costs and environmental impact.

It's Safe

Propane is nontoxic and emits less than half the greenhouse gases that electricity does. It has the lowest flammability of any alternative fuel. Since propane doesn’t spill, pool, or leave a residue, tank leaks won’t contaminate water or soil, and won’t cause damage to your home or family.

It's Affordable

Propane is domestically available and in high supply, so pricing is often lower and more stable than other energy sources. Since propane-powered appliances are energy-efficient, you save on energy costs, and many states offer incentives for using clean alternative fuels like propane.

"Jim's Propane never disappoints! I called at almost closing time to get some help and advised them that it would wait until tomorrow. They were here within 20 minutes with a fix and our home is now nice and toasty! I recommend this awesome business to everyone as they have always been great to work with and very dependable!!!"

"Came home to find that the house was 10 degrees cooler. Shocked that was completely out of propane. Called them and they came over a little over an hour later to refill the backup. They take care of us well!"

-Dane

"We switched to Jim's because of their friendly staff and sticking to their word. When they say they will be at my home, they do, and even early! Thank you Jim's Propane."

-Sara

"The guys came out quickly and hooked up our tank. They were very friendly and even made sure to get one of our kittens out from under their truck before they left. They were very thorough and made sure to explain all of the safety aspects of it to me."
